Joint Replacement Institute Surgeon Travels to Asia to Educate Peers About Hip and Knee Surgeries
LOS ANGELES – July 7, 2009 – Orthopaedic surgeon Thomas P. Schmalzried, MD, medical director for the JRI, recently traveled to Asia to educate peer surgeons about the latest techniques in joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Schmalzried traveled to Korea in May, where he delivered two lectures titled: Design Rationale for a Single Radius Total Knee Prosthesis and Fixed vs. Rotating TKR: A Randomized, Prospective Study. The meeting of surgeons provided clinical and technological updates in knee Arthroplasty, as well as opportunities for discussion and problem-solving with experts and peers.
Dr. Schmalzried also traveled to Japan as Presidential Guest Speaker and spoke at the Japanese Orthopaedic Association on the topic: Improving Hip Function: High Stability and Low Wear.
